    Synopsis

In 1996, aboard the research vessel Akademik Mstislav Keldysh, treasure hunter Brock Lovett and his team search for a valuable diamond necklace called the Heart of the Ocean in the wreck of the RMS Titanic. They recover a drawing of a nude woman wearing the diamond, dated the night the Titanic sank. An elderly woman named Rose Dawson Calvert contacts them, claiming to be the woman in the drawing. She recounts her experiences aboard the Titanic in 1912.

Rose DeWitt Bukater, a 17-year-old first-class passenger, boards the Titanic with her wealthy fiancé, Cal Hockley, and her mother. Distraught over her engagement, Rose contemplates suicide but is saved by Jack Dawson, a penniless artist. They develop a deep bond, despite their differing social classes. Jack is invited to a first-class dinner and later joins Rose at a third-class party, where their affection deepens.

As the ship continues its voyage, it strikes an iceberg and begins to sink. Jack and Rose struggle to survive the disaster. Jack is falsely accused of theft and handcuffed, but Rose frees him. In the chaos, they witness the ship breaking in half and sinking. Jack sacrifices himself to save Rose, who is eventually rescued by the RMS Carpathia. She adopts Jack's last name and moves on with her life.

In the present, Rose reveals that she had the Heart of the Ocean necklace all along and drops it into the ocean. The film ends with a vision of young Rose reuniting with Jack at the Grand Staircase of the RMS Titanic, surrounded by those who perished on the ship. Titanic is a tale of love, tragedy, and survival, highlighting the stark differences between social classes and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of disaster.
